Missing Money in Texas

The Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts manages the online search tool to find missing money in the Lone Star State. It also offers the public to do 3 free searches by phone for lost funds ((800) 654-FIND (3463)) --- It's database is updated nightly, and free to use.
Texas attempts to find rightful owners via newspaper advertisements each year, exhibits at the Texas state fair, and notices mailed to the owners last known address. The State never takes legal ownership of the property, so you can claim your assets at any time.
According to the comptroller, assets frequently include: Dividend, payroll or cashiers checks, stocks, mutual funds and bonds, utility deposits and other refunds, bank accounts, safe deposit contents, insurance proceeds, Mineral interest and royalty payments and trust funds & escrow accounts.
